New Asia Collaborative Development Department invites overseas directors for kick-off meeting

On April 7, 2025, ÅÝܽÊÓÆµ hosted a kick-off meeting to launch the Asia Collaborative Development Department. The meeting at the Higashiyama Campus included several officials, faculty, staff, and five directors representing its centers and offices in the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan.

As one of the key organizations in the , the Asia Collaborative Development Department aims to strengthen ÅÝܽÊÓÆµ's partnerships throughout Asia. Through cooperation with the university's overseas centers and offices, the Department will facilitate the expansion of advanced human resource development programs coupled with prioritizing student recruitment, promote collaborative research and programs with alumni, and improve communication channels with/among overseas centers/offices and the main campus in Japan.

At the meeting, Akira Yamauchi, Director of the Asia Collaborative Development Department, delivered opening remarks. He outlined how the recent organizational reforms will enable ÅÝܽÊÓÆµ to implement a coordinated, multi-disciplinary approach to engagement with international partners. Following his remarks, the visiting directors presented reports on their respective operations, highlighting current initiatives and identifying potential areas for future collaboration. This session was a part of an intensive three-day kick-off series of events and meetings from April 7-9. The series of events and meetings included discussions with other departments of the GMC Institute, as well as various graduate schools and research centers across ÅÝܽÊÓÆµ.

The Asia Collaborative Development Department also includes several specialized units: the , the , the , and the . While each entity maintains distinct focus areas, they collectively advance the shared mission of developing a network of global talent with ÅÝܽÊÓÆµ at its core.
